Presented at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 901, the new Porsche sports car was created to carry on the legacy of the 356. In 1964 it took the name 911, destined to become one of the most recognisable in motoring history.
The design kept the rear engine and air cooling, introducing a two-litre flat-six that, in the model’s initial specification, developed 130 hp. The 2+2 coupé body and its proportions defined a design language that remained recognisable in later generations.
A 1965 example belongs to the very earliest years of that story. The first, short-wheelbase series expresses the original concept of the 911, before the wheelbase was extended for the 1969 model year.
Odometer: 20,843 km indicated; total mileage not certified.
