The car underwent a partial preservation restoration in the past and retains its original interior. It is fitted with a matching 1,500 cc engine and holds ASI Targa Oro certification.
The history of the Volkswagen T1
The first generation of the Transporter was launched in 1950, following the prototype presented in 1949. With its rear engine and distinctive split windscreen, the T1 gave rise to a family of vehicles designed both for work and for carrying passengers. In 1956 production moved from Wolfsburg to Hanover; by 1967, when the T2 arrived, the T1 had already found around 1.9 million buyers.
This 1966 Deluxe therefore belongs to the final years of the first German generation and retains its recognisable front-end styling.
