Non-binding enquiry. Available documentation and appointments must be confirmed with SC Classic.

One of the first 500 Porsches built, from the years in which the marque’s history was taking shape. This Porsche 356 Split Coupé from 1950, with four-digit chassis number and a matching numbers, it is a rare testimony to Porsche’s origins. It has been fully restored by SC Classic: mechanicals, bodywork and interior, in a complete programme covering the whole car.
1950: at the origins of the Porsche 356
The history of the 356 begins in 1948 in Gmünd, Austria, with the first sports cars to bear the Porsche name. 1950 marks a decisive step: production settled in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, where Porsche worked with the Reutter coachworks. The first car built in Germany was completed on 6 April 1950. These are the beginnings of a still largely hand-built production, very far from the volumes the marque would reach in later years.
Our Coupé belongs to this first season. Its year of construction and four-digit chassis number place it at the dawn of production: a 356 to know both for its place in Porsche history and for its lines.
The split windscreen: the character of the “Split”
The name “Split” refers to the most recognisable detail of these early 356s: a windscreen made of two panes separated by a central pillar. It is one of the hallmarks of the first generation, now commonly known as Pre-A. From 1952 Porsche introduced a one-piece windscreen, still bent in the centre: the split glass therefore remains the sign of a precise and particularly fascinating phase in the model’s evolution.
The complete restoration carried out by SC Classic
On this example we carried out a complete, top-to-bottom restoration, covering the mechanicals, the bodywork and the entire cabin. Work that extended to the whole car, down to the finishes and details. The Coupé is presented in black with green interior, a 1110 cc engine and matching-numbers specification.
